ED Navigator Privacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
ED Navigator (“the app”) is clinical decision-support software for licensed emergency clinicians. This policy explains what happens to information you enter.
Information stays on your device
Case details you enter — age, sex, weight, vital signs, history, exam findings, test results, and notes — are stored only on your iPhone, inside the app. The developer does not operate a server and does not receive, collect, or store this information. Deleting the app deletes it.
Do not enter identifiers
The app is designed for de-identified information only. Do not enter patient names, medical record numbers, dates of birth, addresses, or any other identifier. The app is not a HIPAA-covered system and is not intended to store protected health information.
Optional AI features
If you choose to use an AI feature (plan review, reassessment, disposition consult, case questions, or AI-written note), the app sends a de-identified summary of the current case to the AI provider you select — Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT), or Google (Gemini) — using an API key you provide. Nothing is sent to a provider until you turn on permission for that provider in Settings, and you can withdraw permission at any time.
Requests go directly from your iPhone to the provider; they do not pass through the developer. Each provider handles that data under its own terms and privacy policy:
- Anthropic: anthropic.com/legal/privacy
- OpenAI: openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
- Google: policies.google.com/privacy
Dictation
Dictation (“Dictate new patient” and “Dictate HPI”) is an optional AI feature. The microphone is used only while you are recording. Speech is converted to text by Apple’s speech recognition — on the iPhone itself when the device supports it. Audio is not stored or sent by the app. The resulting text is sent to the AI provider you selected so it can fill in the case form. If you say a date of birth, it is used only to calculate age and is not stored.
API keys
API keys you enter are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device and are sent only to the matching provider to authorize your requests.
No tracking, analytics, or advertising
The app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking code, and does not share data with data brokers.
Children
The app is intended for licensed clinicians and is not directed to children.
